Very interested in your article as we have a house 200m from Edwin Dyett’s grave in Le Crotoy & visit his grave from time to time. Obviously very poignant at the moment. Andrew & Pat Bussy
Thanks for the comment. Yes, Edwin Dyett’s story is very interesting. Many years ago a friend and I traced his footsteps backwards – from his grave, to the farm where he was shot, to his movements on the Somme. I visit the areas every year so will be around Beaucourt again in August this year. I will certainly relate his story to my friends on the trip. He was a volunteer, he wanted to go to sea, he did his bit, perhaps he couldn’t cope. Sad story,and as important as any other
